Theatre and architecture: space on stage

Theatre and architecture transform space into living narratives, places of power and utopias. From Greek theatres (Epidaurus) to metaverses, these disciplines amplify societal tensions and reconfigure reality. Colonnades, lighting effects and deconstructivist architecture become political manifestos, blending function and poetry.In the digital age, virtual reality and ecology are redefining the ephemeral and the sustainable. Public spaces and digital interfaces are arenas where identities and memories clash. Their 'common grammar' (individual/collective, past/future) transcends the centuries: from ancient catharsis to digital emancipation via virtual spaces, space reveals itself as a universal language.The book invites us to rethink space as a meaningful actor, exploring how theatre becomes (architecture in motion) and architecture becomes (theatre frozen in time), and invites us to rewrite the human comedy, transforming every wall and gesture into an act of emancipation. This reappropriation requires rethinking space for more just environments.
