Thematic Study of the Social Aspects of Engineering Technology

Globally, there is a growing demand to venture into professional, social and ethical aspects of engineering in order to address the plethora of dilemmatic and contemporary societal issues. Currently, educational institutions have introduced courses dealing with the ethical and sociological aspects of science, engineering and technology in order to fulfill the requirements and demands of our time and society. This book concentrates on harmonizing the social and technical aspects of engineering profession, examination of dilemmatic issues, revisiting the history of science and technology with special emphasis on its contribution to the progress of civilizations, ethics in engineering education, the role of religion in engineering studies, philosophy of engineering studies, social responsibility in engineering and engineering education for sustainable development.
