Theories of Child Psychology In Clinical Dental Practice

Psychological development is a dynamic process which begins at birth and proceeds in an ascending order through a series of sequential stages manifesting into various characteristic behaviors. These stages are governed by genetic, familial, cultural, interpersonal and interpsychic factors. The professional dentist who deals with children and takes the responsibility of their health care is a parent surrogate and can discharge certain aspects of the parent care to the child, as do the physician and the teacher.
