It is widely recognized that housing finance and affordability theories have an essential role in guiding the overall research and utilization of the theories. There are many possible sources of theories which are important for the study of housing finance and affordability. Some have been developed within the field of housing, whereas others have been adapted from other related disciplines. Considering the existing housing finance and affordability theories and examining how they have been used in the study of housing is helpful in order to assess the housing finance effectively. Thus, this book will thoroughly deal with the use of housing finance and affordability theories, i.e., housing cycle theory, welfare state theory, land rent theory, classical economic theory, and housing crisis theory and provide with instances of their application in research.

Dr. Goitom Abraha was educated in Geography with Economics minor (BA Degree) from Jimma University in 2007. He got his MA Degree in Urban Development and Management from Addis Ababa University in 2012 and his PhD in Urban Planning and Development that is given by Ethiopian Civil Service University in 2019.
