THEORY OF REVOLUTION AND COUNTER-REVOLUTION

During the entire official "Cold War" (1945-1991), the subject of this book went into decline. It became an archetype, a museum piece. From 1974, the year I published the first edition of "Elements of Political Science" and on, I felt like preaching in the desert. My doctoral thesis "The Subversion of the State", finished in 1986, seemed to most commoners (vulgus vult decipi...) more like a testament than a prophecy. And then history returned and the past became, once again, a lesson for the future. Another phoenix was that of the counter-revolution which returned from the annals of political theory to the present. De Maistre, de Bonald, Edmund Burke and even "my" Lusitanian Integralists rose from the ashes. Here, then, is a contribution to that resurrection.

António Costa de Albuquerque de Sousa Lara, Doutor na especialidade de Ciência Política pelo ISCSP, onde é prof. catedrático, teve uma longa carreira docente de quase meio século e outra política onde desempenhou funções autárquicas diversas, parlamentares (3 legislaturas na AR) e governamentais.
