Maristela Fernandes est originaire de Minas Gerais, où elle est née à l'intérieur de l'État. Elle a toujours été impliquée dans des causes sociales, est diplômée en psychologie et s'est spécialisée dans la thérapie comportementale et cognitive. Elle est titulaire d'une maîtrise en neurosciences et est actuellement candidate à un doctorat bilatéral en psychologie au Brésil et en sociologie en Allemagne. Elle se passionne pour la psychologie de la santé.
