Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agents play a critical role in body protection by scavenging active oxygen and free radicals and neutralizing lipid peroxides Therefore, there is need for a natural product that protects the body but cost-effective, safe and without side effects. pharmacological effects due to the properties of their constituents.Freshwater bivalves occurring in Egypt represent a neglected animal group and little is known about them or their diversity; perhaps due to the fact that they have no apparent economic or medical importance. Egyptian freshwater mussels (Coelatura aegyptiaca) are a Molluscan Bivalve belonging to Unionoidae common in the Egyptian River Nile. This book aimed to evaluate the possible effect of C. aegyptiaca extract for the first time in Egypt, in order to establish whether it would exacerbate or ameliorate the adverse effects of MSG on some serum parameters and oxidative markers in the liver, kidney, testis and brain of rats using vitamin C as a positive control group.
