Thermal engineering is a constituent subdiscipline of Mechanical engineering that deals with the planning and designing of heating and cooling systems as well as with the maintenance of these heating and cooling systems. Meeting the qualifications to become a thermal engineer begins with earning a bachelor's degree in engineering and gaining several years of relevant experience. Most universities do not offer specific thermal engineering degrees.
