Marcia B. H. Mantelli was a Mechanical Engineer in the National Institute for Space Research in Brazil, where she worked at the Satellite Thermal Control group. As a part of her duties, heat pipe technology devices were considered and designed for temperature control of equipment in satellites. She later joined Federal University of Santa Catarina, where she helped in the onset of a heat pipe and thermosyphon research group, which she is now the coordinator of. She published more than 200 papers, more than 70 in peer reviewed international journals.
