Threat and Warning Acts in George Orwell's Novel 1984

The obvious overlap and similarities between threat and warning makes it difficult sometimes for readers and hearers in general to distinguish between the two acts. This book examines these two acts, threat and warning, as speech acts in George Orwell's novel 1984. It further presents a comprehensive study of the lexical, structural, semantic and pragmatic issues involved in threats and warnings. The author assures the fact that threat should be kept distinct from warning.
