Three Essays in Public Finance

This book comprises three essays in public finance. The first essay is a research of a theory of trading of club goods and its application to jurisdiction. The second essay comes out of an interest regarding household demand, poverty and public goods in developing countries. It is about food consumption in Jamaica. The third essay extends the theme of poverty, consumption, and government programs by analyzing one other public program-education. It applies survival analysis to estimate education duration in Jamaica.

Shiyuan Chen was born in Fujian, P.R. China. He received aBachelor degree in Taxation in 1998 and a Masters degree inFinance in 2001 from Xiamen University. Then he received a Ph.D.degree in Economics from Georgia State University in 2008.His research interests focus on public finance & taxation,finance, and development economics.
