In seinen Wandteppichen, Skulpturen und Videoarbeiten macht sich Karlos Gil (geb. 1984 in Talavera, Spanien, lebt und arbeitet in Madrid) vergangene und gegenwartige industrielle Produktionsmethoden zu eigen und kombiniert diese mit filmischen Elementen aus dem Kino, um Settings und Szenerien fur die Erorterung moglicher Zukunfte zu schaffen.

In seinem jungsten und bisher umfangreichsten Ausstellungsprojekt Timefall im CA2M Museo Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo thematisiert der Kunstler die Beziehungen zwischen Kunstlichem und Naturlichem, Technologie und Korper, Mensch und Natur sowie die Komplexitat urbaner Zeichen. Mithilfe von Science-Fiction-Elementen betrachtet er die Fragilitat unserer Zivilisation: Apokalyptische Landschaften werden zur Buhne fur eine Spezies, die sich aus unserer von der Umwelt herausgeforderten Realitat entwickelt hat. Der begleitende Katalog zeigt erstmals einen umfassenden Querschnitt seiner Arbeiten sowie Neuproduktionen, die im Rahmen der Ausstellung entstanden sind. Die Essays schrieben Peio Aguirre, Jussi Parikka, Bernardo Jose de Souza und Laura Tripaldi.

In his wall hangings, sculptures, and videos, Karlos Gil (b. Talavera, Spain, 1984; lives and works in Madrid) adapts obsolete and contemporary industrial production practices, combining them with filmic elements from the cinema in order to create settings and scenarios for a consideration of possible futures.

In his most recent exhibition Timefall at CA2M Museo Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo, his most expansive project to date, the artist addresses the interrelations between the artificial and the natural, between technology and the body, between man and nature, as well as the complexity of urban signifiers. Elements from science fiction sustain a meditation on the fragility of our civilization: apocalyptic landscapes become the stage for a species that has evolved from our environmentally challenged reality. The accompanying catalogue is the first to survey his oeuvre featuring a representative selection of his earlier output and the new works created in connection with the exhibition. With contributions by Peio Aguirre, Jussi Parikka, Bernardo Jose de Souza, and Laura Tripaldi.
