TIV Transformational Generative Syntax

The book examines the pattern of the Tiv transformational generative syntax with a clear focus on deletion and adjunction. Addition of new unit(s) on existing ones and deletion of existing unit (s) in a particular structure through transformation are mathematically represented by plus (+) minus (-) operational pattern. In general, the realization of syntactic, semantic and phonological components of any language is threatened through transformation. Since linguistics is an empirical science which does not rely on assumption, the need for thorough inquiry into the intricacies of the Tiv syntax with transformational analysis establishes the syntactic re-ordering whether transformational changes has any effect on a given structure as a result of deletion and adjunction or not. This book therefore provide evidences on how adjuction and deletion occur in the Tiv syntactic constructions.
