The Tizard Mission officially the British Technical and Scientific Mission was a British delegation that visited the United States during the Second World War to get American resources to develop important military technology developed in the UK. It got its popular name from the instigator Henry Tizard. Tizard was a British scientist and chairman of the Aeronautical Research Committee which had instigated the development of radar. The mission travelled to the U.S. in late September 1940 during the Battle of Britain They were bringing Britain's technical war secrets and hoping the U.S. would help the war effort.
