TONGUE AND MALOCCLUSION

Tongue is a muscular organ which plays a major role in the establishment of alveolar arch form and in the precise positioning of the teeth. Tongue thrusting is a forward resting posture of the tongue with its light and sustained pressure against the teeth would be expected to affect vertical and horizontal positioning of teeth. The main motive of this topic "Tongue and Malocclusion" is to aid clinicians and orthodontist to catch the patients when young by intercepting perverted muscular habits like tongue thrusting which leads to morphological changes in the dentoalveolar structure and skeletal malocclusions.
