Jan Assmann, geboren 1938, Studium der Ägyptologie, Klassischen Archäologie und Gräzistik in München, Heidelberg, Paris und Göttingen, von 1976 bis 2003 Professor für Ägyptologie in Heidelberg, seit 2005 Honorarprofessor für Allgemeine Kulturwissenschaft und Religionstheorie an der Universität Konstanz. Zuletzt erschienen 'Die Zauberflöte: Oper und Mysterium' (2013, Hanser) und 'Exodus. Die Revolution der Alten Welt' (2015, C.H. Beck). Im Picus Verlag erschien seine Wiener Vorlesung 'Die Zauberflöte. Eine Oper mit zwei Gesichtern' (2015).
