Tourism and Scenic Art in the urban space of Alcântara, Maranhão (Brazil)

The book analyzes the performing arts as an instrument for the valorization of the cultural heritage and an element of the tourist offer in the municipality of Alcântara, Maranhão. It uses bibliographical research, approaching the concept of city as a material and symbolic production, the relationship between heritage and cultural tourism, considered a cultural phenomenon and a factor of exchange and learning. It points out urban theatre as an alternative for the re-signification of the city spaces and as an element that brings about enriching experiences for both visitors and residents. The study takes the urban space of Alcântara as an object of investigation, pointing out from the memories, stories and local legends, possibilities of artistic interventions and cultural activities in order to strengthen the incipient local tourism. The research highlights the need for the involvement of the population in the elaboration of thematic tourism products, in order to ensure the sustainability of the local heritage.

Elle est titulaire d'un master en culture et tourisme de l'université d'État de Santa Cruz (UESC) et d'une licence en tourisme de l'université fédérale du Maranhão (UFMA). Elle est actuellement chargée de cours à la faculté de tourisme de l'université fédérale du Maranhão (UFMA), campus de São Bernardo. Elle développe des recherches dans les domaines du tourisme et du patrimoine culturel.
