Tourism and the Mineral and Thermo Mineral Waters of the Timi County

Durable development in tourism is a necessity in the 21st century society and it implies living in harmony with the environment. Spa tourism is well known since ancient times and it is also appreciated by many people at present. Knowing the mineral and thermal-mineral water resources, their composition, their characteristics, temperature and debit is essential for the durable development of spa tourism in a certain area. Timi County is situated in the western part of Romania, and it is included in the Euro-region Danube- Cri - Mure Tisa. On this territory, there are several forms of tourism: tourism traffic, spa tourism, leisure and business tourism, cultural historical tourism, wine tourism, sports tourism, hunting and fishing tourism. This county has important resources of mineral and thermal-mineral waters which have significant characteristics and have been used in treating various diseases. Present day exploitation of resources is inappropriate for the environment, yet there are possibilities that, in the future, it may be done in a durable way
