Tourism Education Competencies and Tourism Industry Expectations

In today's fast paced economy infused with intense competition, technological advancements and demographic shifts, the role of education has become paramount in imparting workplace skills and knowledge requirements. Education system has to adapt to the changing trends and requirements of the industry in order to imbibe skills and abilities in an individual so that will meet the competence requirements of the organizations. Service sector which is highly dependent on human capital requires skilled workforce for the growth and development of organization Tourism industry is one of the service sectors and also called as people industry which depends on quality and skilled workforce for the growth and development of tourism sector. Tourism education plays has to play a key for the success and growth of tourism sector by contributing skilled workforce that will meet the competence requirements of the organization. This book helps the reader to visualize the gaps between competency expectations of tourism industry and tourism education competencies in meeting those competency requirements of tourism industry.

Nagarjuna G ist Dozent in der Abteilung für Reisen und Tourismus am Mount Carmel College. Vor Beginn seiner akademischen Laufbahn arbeitete er bei Holiday Bliss als Führungskraft im Bereich Reiseveranstaltung. Später trat er der Christ University als Forschungsassistent für das große Forschungsprojekt "Eine Bewertung der ökologischen und nachhaltigen Tourismuspraktiken von Ferienorten" bei.
