Toxicological Studies of Nickel in Allium cepa

This study point towards the level of contamination of various environmental components being air aoil or water by hazardous metals like nickel which ultimately pose serious threats to the life of living beings. Therefore, their regular monitoring in different parts of the ecosystem is equally mandatory. The present study clearly indicates the adverse effects of nickel salt on morphological parapeters of Allium cepa. The genotoxic response in Allium cepa test system further creates an alarm to the health of farmers as well as the consumers of different food crops/fruits/vegetables.
