Tradition Meets Modernity
Details
Though they may be modernised, educated and professional, women are still traditional at heart. Tradition meets Modernity considers being an excellent reading within sociology of work and gender study. It illuminates interesting yet provocative debate about women and work deriving from the continuation of the traditional elements in industrialising Malaysia. This book is therefore specially dedicated to sociology students who have interest in work and employment; gender; public and domestic issues. It is also relevant for the Government to campaign policies for women to work as well as to cease certain cultural bias and normative bigotry against women in the workplace. In addition, since not many literatures specifically elaborate the life experiences of women engineers, this book is an ideal analysis for employers, academics and policy-makers in engineering field to generate better understanding and more awareness to women engineers and workers. Last but not the least, this book may be a good reading for husbands and men in providing their supports to help their women to achieve their full potential both at home and work.
