Education and culture are two inseparable things. Education is a process that is done in order to develop a human into the maturity stage; educational process is the process of culturalization. In the society itself, a human can be considered 'mature' if he/she has noble culture. In many regions of Indonesia, traditional game as a part of culture always been passed down to generations. But in this era, traditional game has been fading or even vanished and unknown to the young generation. New strategy is needed in order to conserve the culture of traditional games that has almost vanished. School can apply and make one form of culture into part of learning process. So, the society does not view education as a formal institution which focuses only on the academic/ intellectual achievement by disregarding the context of local culture. The teacher can develop a cultural-based learning strategy (developing traditional game of Boi-Boian as learning strategy). By applying traditional game of Boi-Boian based learing strategy, teachers will also be able to cultivate the affection towards local culture and to develop the skill and scientific thinking of the students of elementary school.

Efi Tri Astuti, M.Pd., was born in Pacitan on October 15th, 1992. She has graduated from Magister Program of Primary Education (with Science concentration) in Islamic University of Sunan Kalijaga in 2018. She is a lecturer program study of Primary Education in STIT Muhammadiyah Pacitan, Jawa Timur, Indonesia.
