Transformation of a Heritage City towards a Smart and Sustainable City

This book is about making Jaipur a smart and sustainable City. It describes how a heritage city can transform into a smart and sustainable city. The proposal for making whole Jaipur a smart city will remain unfinished unless and until its core area i.e., walled city is made sustainable and smarter. The research demonstrates the overall impact of transformation happening in walled city, not only on heritage but also on the social, economic and environmental aspect of development. The need for healthy, sustainable and responsive environments is a global concern. The study concludes with need of overall smart and sustainable development of walled city and in place of compelling to stop transformation, it suggests the strategy of transformation, promoting sustainable development, which will not only protect our priceless heritage, but also will be compatible to present lifestyle and future needs.

Dr. Vibha Upadhyaya is an Architect Planner with about 12 years of experience as educationist as well as infrastructure consultant for Architecture & Planning projects. She has done extensive research on Smart city project for her PhD and has worked on a range of projects including large scale city Master plan to Commercial and Residential Project.
