Transformations and Permanence in the Pernambuco Seahorse

In recent years, studies into cultural manifestations have pointed to the diversity of rhythms, colours, sounds, gestures and words. This research sought to discuss a popular folklore from Pernambuco known as Cavalo Marinho. The aim was to understand how the changes that the players have experienced up to the present day, especially in the reduced duration of the performances, have transformed the relationship between the practice of this folguedo and public institutions, as well as the changes brought about by the presence of women. In this way, by re-discussing culture and cultural manifestations, the book is aimed at teachers, researchers, academics, artists and all those with an interest or passion for learning about the richness of Brazil's popular folklore.

Professor and Master in History - UFPE, Specialist in Culture and History of Indigenous Peoples - Federal Rural University of Pernambuco - UFRPE and Licentiate in History - UFRPE. She is currently studying for a PhD in History at UFPE and is researching Public Policies for Culture in Pernambuco between 1975 and 1988.
