Transfusion rules

The balance between the benefits and risks of transfusion makes it ambivalent: it improves the prognosis of patients whose Red Blood Cell count is too low, but worsens that of transfused patients when the situation does not imperatively require it. The use of decision algorithms to manage bleeding has been shown to reduce the consumption of PSL and postoperative complications.
