Translating the Qur anic Mutashabihat 'i.e. polysemic' verses adopts a new linguistic methodology for analyzing Qur anic texts through the use of Vermeer's Skopostheorie and Nord's Functional Approach, in three selected English translations of the Qur an. This book investigates how multi-layered meanings can account for the ambiguity in the semantic value, which is inherent in Qur anic discourse.
