A Study identifying risk factors associated with development of MDR-TB, occurrence and pattern, morbidity and mortality of MDR-TB in Peninsular Malaysia is worthwhile. The genes such as MCP1, CCR2 and CD209 which might be associated with susceptibility or resistance to TB among household contacts of index cases would be highlighted in this study. This book contain two parts of studies, in Phase one was a retrospective study for epidemiology of Tuberculosis among household contacts of MDR-TB and risk factors associated with its developments. Phase two was a cross sectional study identifying the genetic variations analysis for three candidate genesof MCP-1, CCR2 and CD209 genes.

Autorentext

Dr. Omar Elmi has a PhD in Epidemiology of Common Tropical Infectious Diseases. He was a postgraduate researcher at Universiti Sains Malaysia and worked on Multidisciplinary research in Epidemiology and Public Health. He had extensive experience in Epidemiology of MDR-TB and epidemiological research designs.
