Traumatic Transformation

The United States military is being deployed throughout the world in large numbers. These deployments bring with them the threat of armed conflict, create high levels of stress and anxiety, and inflict numerous injuries upon our men and women in uniform.As a result of their service, many members of the military sustain service-connected disabilities and are forced to transition to a civilian community that they are not always prepared to face. This book examines the experience of transitioning from the armed forces to the civilian workforce as a result of service-connected disabilities.

Dr. Burlile is a veteran of the Gulf War. After sustaining injuries while on active duty in the U.S. military, he participated in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment program. He completed his undergraduate studies at Boise State University and his graduate studies at the University of Idaho.
