Triple Bottom Line Of Corporate Sustainable Development

The need for environmental protection has evolved into a call for businesses and the larger society to be financially, socially and environmentally responsible. This concept, largely known as sustainability and has become a major aspect of not only the business world but the academic field also. Researchers have found that sustainability in the form of corporate sustainable development is needed especially in the oil and gas industry. This book looks at how far such companies in that industry have come as regards sustainability. The research is built around what sustainability means, what it used to be, how it has evolved and how oil and gas companies deal with the financial, social and environmental issues surrounding their operations. Employing the triple bottom line principle of sustainable development, this research assesses and analyses the financial, social and environmental performance of companies in the United Kingdom and Nigerian oil and gas industries. Summarily, the growing awareness on social and environmental issues has caused even conglomerates to sit up and focused on not only being financially profitable but also socially and environmentally responsible.
