This book attempts a comparative study at some of the truth justice and reconciliation commissions that have been established in various commonwealth countries. The study is undertaken with Kenya in mind being involved in such a process but the book will be of instructive value to any other person undertaking a general study on the topic. It is hoped by the author that in coming days Justice and Reconciliation commissions can be more structured to fit in the mainstream dispute resolution mechanisms in various countries and that their contribution to peace through out the world will be felt more. Stephen Thuku is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. The book contains an analysis of some of the major Truth justice and Reconciliation Commissions we have had within the commonwealth and it was written with an objective of drawing important lessons that could inform the Kenyan process or an other country undertaking the process.
