High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Uarbryichthys ("Uarbry Fish") is a genus of primitive teleost ray-finned fish from fossil beds near the Talbragar River Bed. It was a genus of lake-dwelling fish that lived during the Upper Jurassic. When alive, it would have had a superficial resemblance to a very small porgie, or sea bream, but with a heterocercal tail fin. In biology, a genus (plural: genera) is a taxonomic unit (a taxon) used in the classification of living and fossil organisms. The composition of a genus is determined by a taxonomist. The standards for genus classification are not strictly codified, and hence different authorities often produce different classifications for genera. In the hierarchy of the binomial classification system, genus comes above species and below family.
