Schwenningen was for much of the 19th century (ant the early 20th century) one of southern Germany''s most important centers of industrial scale clock manufacturing. The museum is located at Bürkstraße 39 a building that was built to house the manufacturing plant for clocks by W rttenbergische Uhrenfabrik B rk Söhne. That company is was considered to be the world leader in the specialised field of portable watchmens control clocks, and related time recording devices.
