Understanding gender: Issues and perspectives

This maiden edition provides insights into the existing gender problems and issues such as gender discrimination, inequality and stratification in society as well as the benefits of gender equality towards society's sustainable development. It also explores the interconnections between gender equality in the promotion of effective Social Work practice. The author addresses women empowerment and gender mainstreaming principles as a global framework for the support of gender equality. Archibong, E. P (PhD) is a Senior Lecturer and Researcher in the Department of Social Work, University of Calabar. She was awarded a B.Sc. (Hons) in Sociology, M.Sc. and PhD in Medical Sociology by the University of Calabar. She holds a post graduate certificate in Social Work from Christian University of Applied Sciences (CHE), Netherlands.
