Violation of Human Rights has become the most worrying problems of our times for the entire world civilization. There are not only gross violations but also violation of human rights when concerned to the availability of the basic requirements of life, like right to food, housing and other such economic, social and cultural rights. The implementation and protection of human rights continue to face enormous problems. Behind these practical problems lie many unresolved theoretical and philosophical issues. Thus it is pertinent to understand the theoretical aspect of the concept of human rights. The book makes an attempt to understand the various theories of human rights. The first part gives an overview of the concepts of rights and human rights. The second part explores the historical sources of human rights. Finally, the book analyses the various theories on human rights and some of the current conflicts relating to it.
