University Students

The background, aspirations and attitudes of students in general and university students in particular are of great interest to social scientists, educationists and policy makers, yet we know very little about the impact of this student community over time. This empirical study uses data pertaining to post graduate students to provide new sociological insights into the changing dynamics of lives of students today. In particular, it explores the stratifications, social transformation and educational dimension of learning process. Social attributes are more pronounced for learners, both in the academic performance and educational satisfaction. Aspiration to become an academician, increasing trend toward inter-caste marriages, electronic media and new technological patterns are all studied in this academic endeavour.
