Unleashing the Potential of People with Disabilities

People with disabilities face many challenges and usually excluded from the society, yet they possess great skills, talents and amazing abilities to contribute to our society. Lack of full participation of people with disabilities in key positions, decision-making, policies, economic and political space are undoubtedly missing link for the development of our contemporary world. We need people with disabilities to develop our societies, just as these people also need us. We need each other to grow and take our societies to the great height.It must therefore be the desire of our society to make sure that everyone has not only happy but also satisfied life. It is therefore our moral responsibility to ensure that pole with disabilities live a happy life. Let us be there for them, so that they can also be there for us.

Y.E.Thomas is an active Malawian young activist who believes that social justice, gender equality and youth participation are missing links in the development of African development. He was born in the family of 6 children: 3 brothers and 3 sisters. He hails from the Mkukula Village in the area of Traditional Authority M'bang'ombe in Lilongwe Dist.
