Details

Bangladesh, a predominantly rural country, is undergoing an urban transformation as its population rapidly migrates to cities. Around 40 million people in Bangladesh live in urban areas. More than half of Bangladesh's urban population lives in the four largest cities of the country. With rapid urbanization has come an increase in vulnerability to natural and man-made disasters. The marginalized bear a disproportionate share of risk as they are the most susceptible to the impacts of urban risks. This study aims to increase institutional capacity by strengthening policy, frameworks and promoting better urban planning through effective advocacy, reinforced by efficient knowledge.
