Urban Transport,Traffic Management and Transport Modeling in Ethiopia

Transportation which has started since the ancient times serves the same purpose to move people & freight from one place to another. Public transport is the main mode of transportation in big cities. Where as, In developing countries walking accounts the larger proportion. i.e. Transportation is crucial to any development. Improper management of transport facilities result in significant disasters on nations' economy. Car accident, particularly in developing countries, becomes serious. Such problems may arise from inadequate skill of drivers, violation of traffic laws, the increase number private cars, irregular land features which obstructs the vision of drivers & pedestrians, lack of maintenance of vehicles, aged trucks & inadequate traffic management. To reverse such problems new technologies are underway like the intelligent transportation system which aids to manage transportation through electronic systems. This may take longer time to use it. Engineers also devised other means of transport management system-TRANSPORT MODELLING, which assists to forecast the future traffic movement. Thus, introducing such system will have significant importance to improve transport management
