Use of Mathematical Model as a Tool for Urban Drainage Study
Details
The improvement of the drainage system is one of the highest priorities needs of the Comilla City Corporation of Bangladesh for living environment of its urban population. The Comilla City Corporation suffers from drainage congestions and water logging during rainy season. The water logging/flooding occurs mainly due to blockages of main drainage system of the city area. The water logging/flooding also creates an unhealthy environmental situation and causes inconvenience to the residents including damages to the infrastructure, loss of business and spreading of diseases. It is observed that the existing drainage systems are inadequate in capacities, lack in gradient and even some drains are not reaching to a suitable outfall as well. Considering all these problems mentioned above and based on findings of the site visit, field survey, consultation with local people and discussion with City Corporation authority some main existing drainage systems have been identified for drainage improvement study using mathematical model.
