The district is located in Longueuil and includes mostly southeastern portions of the city. The riding was created in 1980 from a part of Taillon. The riding is named after former Longueuil municipal councillor Jacques Vachon. Quebec is a province in east-central Canada. It is the only Canadian province with a predominantly French-speaking identity and the only one whose sole official language is French at the provincial level.
