He was born in the town of Arapgir in Western Armenia (now in Turkey). In 1932 he repatriate to Soviet Armenia, to Arabkir district of Yerevan. Davtyan was honoured promoter of the culture (1970) and an editor. He translated the works of Alexander Pushkin, Sergei Yesenin, Sándor Pet fi, Alexander Blok, etc. The main theme of his works were fatherland, human, his work and emotions. He mainly wrote poems and ballads. He died in 1996 in Yerevan.
