High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Valerie and Her Week of Wonders (or Valerie a týden div ) is a novel by surrealist Czech writer Vít zslav Nezval, first published in 1935. It was made into a 1970 Czech film directed by Jaromil Jire . With this novel, Nezval explored the gothic themes and settings of such novels as Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and M. G. Lewis' The Monk, as well as F. W. Murnau's film Nosferatu (based on Dracula by Bram Stoker). He took a great risk using this format, as the Romantic movement was shunned by followers of the surrealism at the time.
