Variation of Arabic Consonants and Grammatical Variables in Facebook

The research presented in this work investigates variations in Electronic Amiyya (colloquial Arabic) written in Latin script in seven countries in the Arab World Israel/Palestine, Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Morocco. The study constitutes a new type of research of the Arabic language in that it exploits the variationist sociolinguistic methodology developed by William Labov, but extends its application from spoken to written dialects.
