Velasio de Paolis, CS JCD STL (born 19 September 1935) is an Italian prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He currently serves as president of the Prefecture for the Economic Affairs of the Holy See. De Paolis was born in Sonnino, and became a member of the Congregation of the Missionaries of St. Charles on 4 October 1958. He sent to Rome to complete his studies, he received his doctorate in canon law in the faculty of canon law at the Pontifical Gregorian University, a licentiate in theology at the faculty of theology at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas, and a law degree La Sapienza University in Rome. He was ordained to the priesthood on 18 March 1961, and taught canon law at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.
