Vincent Twomey was an Irish sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club Glen Rovers and was a member of the Cork senior inter-county team from 1950 until 1956. Twomey first came to prominence with the Cork senior hurling team in the early 1950s at a time when Cork hurling was at a low ebb. After a period in the wilderness the Cork team bounced back in 1952 with O'Riordan winning a third Munster winners' medal following a defeat of three-in-a-row All-Ireland champions Tipperary in the provincial decider. Dublin provided the opposition in the subsequent All-Ireland final with Twomey returning for that game. The Dubs were completely outclassed by Cork on that occasion. In spite of only leading by three points at half-time Cork won easily by 2-14 to 0-7 and Twomey picked up a coveted All-Ireland winners' medal.
