Vinje Church is a parish church in the municipality of Hemne in Sør-Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the village of Vinjeøra, just north of the European route E39. The church is part of the Vinje parish in the Orkdal deanery in the Diocese of Nidaros. The white, wooden, octagonal church building was constructed in 1824 to replace an older church that was not in good shape. The church can seat 150 on the main floor with an additional 50 seats in the balcony. A parish church (or parochial church), in Christianity, is the church which acts as the religious centre of a parish, the basic administrative unit of episcopal churches. In many parts of the world, especially in rural areas, the parish church may play a significant role in community activities, often allowing its premises to be used for non-religious community events.
