Autorentext

Dr. Bassiri Gharb, MD, PhD , is an associate professor of plastic surgery at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University and, Vice Chair of research of the Department of Plastic Surgery. She is Surgical Codirector of Cleveland Clinic Gender Affirmation Program, director of Cleveland Clinic Craniofacial Surgery Fellowship and Plastic Surgery Research Fellowship. She has written over 100 peer-reviewed papers and multiple book chapters. Her research interests include face and hand transplantation, gender affirmation surgery, new techniques in craniomaxillofacial surgery, hand surgery and microsurgery.

Dr. Antonio Rampazzo, MD, PhD , is an Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University, where he also serves as Associate Residency Program Director. His research interests include vascularized composite allotransplantationspecifically face, hand, and abdominal wall transplantationas well as advancements in craniomaxillofacial surgery and microsurgery. He has authored multiple book chapters and published over 100 peer-reviewed articles.

Dr. Frank Papay, MD , is Chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. He is also a Professor of Plastic Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Papay is the 2025 President of the American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons (ASMS). He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He has previously served as President of the Ohio Valley Society of Plastic Surgeons, Chair of the Ethics Committee of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, President of the Plastic Surgery Section of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and as a member of the Executive Committee of the Academy of Medicine of Cleveland and Northern Ohio. Dr. Papay has authored over 100 scientific papers, and multiple book chapters. His clinical research interests include breathing function in rhinoplasty, facial plastic surgery, surgical treatment of obstructive sleep apnea and neuromodulation in the treatment of OSA, cluster and migraine headaches.
