Vitamin D in cancer breast patients during chemoradiotherapy
Details
Vitamin D can protect against cancer breast, decrease cancer progression by slowing the growth and development of new blood vessels in cancer mass, increasing cancer cell death, and reducing cell proliferation and metastases. Due to the benefits of vitamin D in maintaining competent immune system, comes to me to measure it in breast cancer women before and to re-measure it after completing the treatment protocol, and then comparing vitamin D levels with the healthy control group. It surprised me that the entire control group had insufficient level. The cancer breast women had lower levels of vitamin D than healthy group before starting treatment which reduced more to critical levels after chemo-radiotherapy. This leads us to a conclusion that those patients need the measure of vitamin D to start their vitamin D supplement just after finishing the treatment protocol. We must stress during the treatment journey on the foods rich on vitamin D and all other vitamins and antioxidants with as much as possible exposure to sunshine. Special cares for these patients from all surrounding family members and friends will support raising their mood and immunity and protect them from depression
