Details

Vocational development for such individuals is particularly difficult due to reduced orientation and mobility, sensory or mental impairment, prolonged medical treatment and functional limitations associated with such disability. Furthermore restricted early experiences, social immaturity, social attitudes toward disability label for instance blindness and unrealistic aspirations or lower aspirations could also affect their self-acceptance and hinder adequate vocational self-concept. The aim of this book is describe the kind of career information that students with visual impairments acquire from school and to what extent this information facilitates or hampers their development of vocational self-concept and consequently their career decision making Self-efficacy. It explores the current status of students with visual impairments regarding their ability to understand their aptitudes and potentials, realistically accepting their limitations and making independent decisions in career choices.
