In the North American market, the vehicle was designed to compete against the dominance of Japanese and Korean imported cars. The NMS will not be exported to Europe, since the Passat sells very strongly there.In an April 2009 interview with Automotive News, Stefan Jacoby, CEO of Volkswagen Group of America, stated that the NMS will be available in Spring 2011, and will have a price tag in the range of $20,000.
